Bottega Noord Italian specialities

One bakery, three generations

Everything in this shop comes from a single family bakery in the Biellese valleys of Piemonte, at the foot of the Alps. Three generations at the same ovens: dough stretched by hand, grissini laid out in rows, biscuits shaped one at a time. Nothing is made in the volumes a supermarket needs — which is exactly why you will not find it in one.

Bottega Noord is the only importer bringing this range to the Netherlands. We buy small quantities often, keep them in Amsterdam and send them out quickly, so what arrives at your door tastes the way it does in Piemonte.

Vasocottura — baked in the jar

Our babà and panettone are baked and sealed inside their own glass jar. The jar goes into the oven with the dough and the seal forms as it cools, which keeps the sponge soft for months at room temperature: no fridge, no preparation. Open the jar, turn the cake out onto a plate, serve. Almost nobody in the Netherlands sells food made this way, and a single-serve babà al rum straight from the jar is the easiest dessert you will ever put on a table.

Why these are not supermarket products

Hand-stretched grissini cost more than machine-extruded ones, and we would rather explain that than hide it. You are paying for real butter, extra-virgin olive oil, Piemontese grain and a baker shaping each piece by hand — not for a bigger factory.

How delivery works

We ship across the Netherlands from Amsterdam, usually within two working days. Delivery is free on orders over €50. Everything is dry goods with a long shelf life, packed to travel, and jars are wrapped individually.
